Springboks (Antidorcas marsupialis) are a species of african antelope with a distinctive skin flap on its back that unfolds in a white erectable fur patch.
This illustration represents the pronking behavior of a male springbok, when he leaps in the air with stiff legs while opening the dorsal flap and exposing the crest like structure on its back and also emiting a strong scent. Pronking has no definitve reason to happen, being atributed to a range of situation from nervosism to display.
