Prior the to the reveal of Cartoon Collection, I wanted to customize a character that I didn't suspect would get a CC version I might like better. I was disappointed in how the actual Origins Zoar is nearly identical to the vintage toy, with no articulation. So that led to the idea of finding an bird action figure that I could paint in Zoar colors! There's very little to choose from, fortunately I found this off-brand eagle transformer that was just about the size I wanted, and features a little articulation in the legs and wings. (No, I'm never transforming it to robot mode)

I wanted my Zoar to be a huge, formidable beast, akin to Battle Cat. I think it's more exciting, and I figure if the Sorceress has to give up most of her magic power in this form, might as well add some brawn to balance things out. I dig the idea of Zoar being big and strong enough to carry someone out of harm's way if need be. I also wanted something that was a proper action figure that I could pose, at least a little bit. She can flap her wings up and down, fold the outer wings in, and swivel the legs up and down slightly. I considered Kingdom Airrazor for this, but she's too obviously a Transformer, I wanted something that could pass as a legit Zoar toy. Admittedly this was a rushed paint job, about 7 hours in one day, and there were some errors. The paint shears off around the base of the wings, but there wasn't much I could do about this - if I sanded that part down any further, it would lose it's friction. But overall, I think I accomplished what I set out to do - make it look like a mass-produced MOTU toy from the 80's.

If you're curious, the support stage is from Tamashii Nations, and the cradle part is from the Monsterarts Hedorah, for the small form.
