A gift for me fromThis is a still shot of an early commercial for Hamasaki Industries' "Kushinada Creme", currently one of the company's top-selling foot beauty products. In this old commercial, a teenage Makisa played the role of a clumsy skating waitress in her first day at work.
Overwhelmed with orders from everywhere, the waitress loses one of her roller-skates during her running around, in front of all the views of the cafe chock-full of people. There is an awkward silence as the novice waitress blushes with embarrassment and the camera then shoots a close-up of her one bare foot timidly wiggling its toes, shy to be exposed...
But then, instead of shaming her, the people of the cafe cheer and compliment her on how beautiful her foot is. The commercial then proceeded to talk about how, by using the advertised product, her foot's skin looked smoother, more humectated, and above all more beautiful.
Makisa then ended the commercial with the memorable line "It's my first day, but it won't be my last.
Not only did the sales of Kushinada Creme shoot through the roof after it aired, but the commercial became a meme within the Yukihari community, to the point many of the local first-day workers (of both genders) jokingly quote Makisa's famous line.
