Weeks had passed since that evening's confrontation. By that time, Queen Celestia and King Thorax had revealed their plans of divorce to Aurora and the other royals. Somehow, the classified information was found, and publicized to all of Equestria. Activists were furious, while others sighed in relief. But in the end, it was complete chaos. Celestia and Thorax faced a great amount of backlash, and sides were taken. And this did not resonate well with Aurora, who felt terribly stressed.
She confined herself to her room, just hoping that this would all be over with. And it wasn't just all this publicity that scared her. She didn't want her parents to be separate. But she at least understood their unhappiness.
It was now the day before her parents would be legally divorced. Aurora finally decided to go out into the castle. She didn't want to go anywhere in particular, but her legs lead her towards the throne room. Her mother was not here, but one of her cousins was. The black stallion raised his eyes from the book he was reading, surprised to see his frail cousin. Scared to confront anyone, Aurora immediately turned around and hastily walked in the other direction.
"Hey, Aurora! Wait up!" the prince's voice called. His hoofsteps echoed as he trotted towards her.
"I believed that royals should speak with the correct speech," Aurora huffed.
"Correct speech? Uh, you don't have to do that with me," he said.
"Cosmo, I hardly converse with you a-and as we're just acquainted, it is traditional."
"Look, Aurora, I.. I've been really worried about you. Everyone has," Cosmo stated.
"My feelings on it are--" She paused for a moment. "I feel better about it."
"I think you need to get out there more. Why don't we go on a trip?"
"A trip?! Are you insane?" Aurora's eyes widened.
"You'll be with me the whole time. Don't you trust me?" Cosmo smiled.
Aurora stared at him, then curtly nodded.
"How would you feel about going to Ponyville?" he asked.
"Why there?"
"There's a lot of friendly folks down there. I think you could use some more friends."
"More friends? I don't have any friends in the first place," Aurora murmured.
Cosmo looked into her eyes. "We're friends, aren't we?"
Aurora blushed from surprise. "Y-Yeah. Your my friend."
"And you can make loads of new friends there. Besides you really need to get out of this castle."
"Okay!" Aurora chirped.
