This is so cute... it has such a beautiful message.
This is how I interpreted it:
1.
You can just let your heart heal over time- it takes a while to stop hurting, and without protection, there's a chance it could get broken again, WHILE it's on the mend. Or worse, infected by the bitterness of lost-love. Plus, it can leave you pretty messed up- because you can't really go anywhere with an open wound: seeing other people in love is like pouring lemon juice all over your injury (ouch).
2.
You can stick a band-aid on to hold it together- it helps, but it still takes a while to heal. And your going to have to rip that band-aid off sooner or later, and that smarts (in other words, coming to the realisation that you CAN love again; it's not the end of the world).
3.
Or you can stitch it back together- but what hurts more? The stitches as they go in, or the initial break?
