The only fighter I ever was really good was Super Smash Bros Melee, and that's not exactly standard fighting game.
I did play Soul Calibur 3 quite a lot back in the day and didn't utterly suck, though.
But the screen is so busy in MVC3 I get a headache and end up just smashing buttons.
