Well I got thinking about doing a Zero Gravity human again and decided this time to try for something non-humanoid. Basically a wild departure by humans from the typical humanoid form. As always with new species I'll start with a Codex and then info on the individual.

AstroSapien are human species adapted for live in a zero to low gravity environment. Their odd hexapod body plan is the result of extensive genetic alterations which have changed them to thrive in their new environment. The multiple limbs allow for greater multitasking and for greater maneuverability in zero grave as in closer quarters they can keep in contact with the surrounding surfaces. To this end their finger tips and toe tips have a Gecko like quality of being able to stick too certain surfaces when desired. Beyond this they have also adapted to have greater lung capacity and more efficient aviola within their lungs. This allows for them to function in much thinner atmosphere for far longer than a normal human. AstroSapiens also are no longer body breeders as most humans are and are born from maturation wombs which take genetic material from both parents and randomly mixes it adding in the latest approved gene mods. Diet wise the AstroSapien have wide taste though most of their food comes in a form easily manageable in Zero Grav such as something soft in a tube or a drink. Most solid foods are typically served in a sphere bowl and picked out bit by bit with either fingers or utensils to be consumed. Culturally the AstroSapien are a very technologically advanced one with great strengths in the field of bioengineering and indeed continue to enhance and augment themselves. This has seen their intellect expand and grow quite extensively giving the the highest average IQ of any Human species. This has lead to hit or miss relations with other Human species. Most who have not taken to such radical alterations have an instinctive reaction to the Astros and there are multitudes of slang terms used to describe them. The most Prominent being FrogMen. Still on a professional level most keep in good relations with the Astros who are the major asteroid mining power. Indeed it factors into how they settle. Typically they go in and mine out an asteroid and convert the hallowed out Asteroid into living space for themselves. They are masters of ship based combat though not as adept in personal combat. Due to their low grav adaptations they are not very strong or the most durable. This has lead them to be very careful and calculating with others preferring negotiation or battle at a distance. Their adaptations have also made interactions with other species difficult. In normal gravity they require the use of technology for mobility, typically a form of hover chair. Even then they must be careful as the rigors of such gravity can tire them quickly and increase chances of injury.

Ryan floated through the corridors of the station with a content smile his mind adrift as him as he looked forward to the latest episode of a favorite show that was due to premier today. He was taking the long way around home as he liked the extra "walk" and did enjoy the views from the exterior windows. It was nice and relaxing and quite. The only sounds the gentle nearly inaudible hum of stations systems and a crinkle as Ryan floated along occasionally reaching down a foot or out a hand to adjust his course as he floated about. The diaper while odd to a Baseline 12 year old was as normal as could be for an Astro. They were an efficient way to deal with bodily waste. Indeed with just a chemical additive they could be broken down and biodegraded quickly for use at fertilizing agent in the station's hydroponic farm. It was as normal as could be for Ryan as he sipped his drink nearing home. It'd be a nice quite evening snuggled back into the couch as he watched his show with his Mom and Dad. A happy little family evening for him. Some things are universal no matter how much a species changes.
