What's the best way to descibe it... There's a pencil drawn character. Pen character owns pencil. Marker owns all other characters. But no character ever can stop the tearing of the page. No matter how much power a character has, when a void comes, all fall. Just... No matter what or how much you throw at the page edge, it will not move the edge back... No matter how much magic, bullets or missiles you throw at dimensional/time void, they'll just dissapear. So only supercharged Tempora might be able to stop it.

So, Tempora should try to possess Tirek: he absorbs energy, but can he resist fight of wills, since she's pure energy being now?

She has been reducied to a bubble. She can only posses Rarity, with her permission, I presume. It would take some power to overpower someone that full with magic. Tirek might not have "attuned" resistance to mind control, but he has "thick skin", so to say.

His arrogance may be his undoing in that. Much like Sauron won battle of wills with Saruman, who was so self-confident the Eye can't puppet him.

Saruman was a human(?). I would put Sauron as powerful as Tirek.

No, Saruman was Maiar and Istari, sent to help Humans and Elves in their fight against Sauron, supposedly with mind and power equal to Sauron.
Unfortunately to him, Sauron was an absolute expert in psychology and deception, using every character flaw against his enemy.
