To our point of view, the main 6 changed nightmare moon into Princess Luna.
but from her point of view, the mane six created Nightmare Moon!

(sighs) fine: just don't say I didn't warn you; you ever hear the phrase "man out of time"? well, Princess Tempora, the Alicorn of Time, might technically be a MARE out of time; more accurately, time works differently for her then it does for others: as such, she might not be fully aware of EVERYTHING involved in Luna's connection to Nightmare Moon...or at least, that's ONE theory...
(clears throat) MY guess is that she DID know about that connection and was trying to prevent said connection from happening in the first place, as to make it so that Celestia and Luna never lost their own connection with the Elements of Harmony; "why would she do that?" you may well be asking; my prevailing theory: Tempora was involved in Nightmare Moon's appearance, perhaps not in the transformation itself, but the legends DO say that Luna felt unappreciated, and who could appreciative the majesty of Night more then one who sees each passing night AS it happens? now, there's the question as to why Tempora wouldn't relay this information to Luna herself, but one thing that sticks out more then anything with the stories of Temporal Guardians is the concept that they don't usually directly influence time on a grand scale and besides, Celestia herself didn't know the danger until it was too late...
(steadies a breath) I REALLY hope I'm wrong, but this is beginning to feel a LOT like one of those stories where someone messes with time to try and fix one problem only to end up causing an even LARGER one, you know?
