Art (c)The Meeting
One morning at the island of Capricorn Reef, Lightning was taking a walk around. He passed by the beach, which was populated by some sexy girls, though he only waved at them when he looked over. He continues on his walk until he hears what sounds like a flute, and the arrangement was one of the most beautiful things he had ever heard. Lightning took a detour and followed the sounds of the music, letting it lead back to the pier and whomever was producing the sounds. And what he saw dazzled him: a pink-furred pegasus mare with grey hair, dressed in a black shirt with the shoulders and center of the collarbone exposed, as well as a red high-low skirt sitting on the pier. On the mare's face were a few markings: red covered her forehead and the bridge between her eyes, blue surrounded her eyes as well as the top of her snout, and yellow framed the blue, coming down below her eyes and down around her mouth. She also happened to be playing the flute, with the most wonderous notes fluttering out of the instrument.
"Hi, there," Lightning said after some hesitation, but then immediately had that look of regret, as if he shouldn't have said anything. The mare yelped and the long part of the flute smacked the green pegasus square in the face. He yelped in pain and rubbed the sore spot on his face.
"Geez, don't sneak up on me!" the mare yelled.
"Sorry, didn't mean to!" Lightning apologized.
"Dammit," the mare sighed. "I thought I was alone."
"Well, actually, I was in the middle of a walk along the island when I heard your music," Lightning explained. "Which was very nice, by the way."
"Oh," the mare said in realization. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," Lightning said. "In fact, your music was what drew me over here. I just wish I had picked a better route to come over so I didn't get whacked on the face."
"Sorry," the winged mare apologized.
"Don't be," Lightning said. "I'd do the same thing if I were in your horseshoes."
"I'm Lockhart," the mare introduced herself after a moment.
"Hi, Lockhart," Lightning said, holding out a hand. "My name's Lightning Blast, it's nice to meet you."
Lockhart took his hand and shook it, smiling just a little.
"Mind if I sit with you?" Lightning asked after they finished the handshake.
"Oh, uh, sure," Lockhart said, scooting over for the other pegasus to sit next to her on the pier.
"So, what do you do besides play the flute?" Lightning asked.
"I'm," Lockhart said, pausing a bit, "the school's music teacher."
"Really?" Lightning said, smiling at her profession. "That's nice!"
"It can be," Lockhart replied. "You?"
"I actually work at the Cloudsdale Weather Factory," Lightning said.
"I see," Lockhart hummed inquisitively. "What are you doing here then?"
"It's a place where I can get away for a bit," Lightning explained. "Sometimes it gets rough in the factory and my house is too close to want to go there when I need to get away."
"Hmm, I see," Lockhart hummed again.
"Yeah," Lightning said, and something else suddenly came to mind. "I've been practicing with my guitar a little bit, but I'm not very good if I'm being completely honest."
Lockhart simply hummed again.
"I, uh, was wondering, now that I think about it," Lightning said, "could you help me out with that?"
"I can," Lockhart agreed after a moment.
"Thank you," Lightning said, and then it dawned on him that there was a severe lack of guitars on the pier. "Um, when would it be a good time to start that? I didn't exactly bring my guitar this time around."
"The next time you're here," Lockhart responded. "For now, you can walk me home."
"Alright, sounds good," Lightning said with a smile. "Which way do you live?"
"Towards the forest," Lockhart answered, and Lightning stood up on the pier, offering her a hand.
"Shall we then?" Lightning asked, and Lockhart smiled, taking his hand and allowing herself to be helped up. "Ladies first," he added, raising his other arm towards the other side of the pier. Lockhart smiled, lightly bopping him on the head with her flute before taking the lead towards her house.
"Hey, sorry again for spooking you earlier," Lightning said as they approached Lockhart's house.
"It's alright," Lockhart said.
"I really was trying not to come off like a stalker," the green pegasus said.
"Lightning, I said it's alright," Lockhart said with a giggle.
"Okay, sorry," Lightning said, chuckling as well.
"Don't make me whack you again~" Lockhart jokingly threatened.
"Okay, I'll stop!" Lightning said, throwing his hands up as he laughed. Lockhart laughed as well, and before long they had arrived.
"I'll see you next time then?" Lightning asked.
"Of course," Lockhart answered. "After all, I do have to give out some guitar lessons to an out-of-practice pegasus."
"Gee, I wonder who -that- could be?" Lightning said sarcastically, making Lockhart smile and swat him in the belly.
"Bye, Lightning," she said. "I had a good time today."
"Thanks, so did I," Lightning said, and Lockhart entered her home. The green pegasus smiled widely, and began to run off through the beach again.
