Well the deal with Astra is, he's the little sibling of one of the antagonists from this old fic I was writing in high school, he has a bit of a beef due to what happened to his bro, and wants to make him proud, wherever he is. On the surface he has little, if any, confidence in himself. ... Until he starts battling, putting on shows for his Pokémon and showing off their beauty in combat.

If I ever got off my butt and wrote more than a sentence per month, there could be more to talk and care about with these trainer dudes. Sadly, writing feels more like a chore than Actual Fun. And chores are bad.
