Basically, people these days have little to no sense of humor. They usually bombard shows like Sonic Boom, Batman Brave & the Bold and Ultimate Spiderman for being funny yet are totally okay with stuff like Battle of Gods being more comedic than DBZ.This is based off the memes by where he compares complaints within the Sonic fanbase to other things.

Dragon Ball was a comedy first, then became more action when it transitioned to Z.
If you wanna make a more accurate comparison, I'd say Battle of gods which is very comedic.
But the big difference is Dragon Ball was the source material. You cannot flanderize what just came into existence.
Also, thanks for not including Teen Titans Go in You defense, that show doesn't receive ENOUGH ire in my opinion. The original was funny enough.
