Description
Something a little different.. sort of.. oh who am I kidding, if I could draw what I please all day long I'd draw creepy and shiny things non-stop. Anyways!I was mulling over the idea of illustrating something along the lines of seven deadly sins, but the result was instead something of an analgam of several - wrath, lust, pride, greed, vanity, but not much on envy or gluttony. Those two just didn't really fit in without making it a whole lot more complicated and awkward.
It is very detailed, most of which is lost at this size, but should look pretty sweet in print. A detail shot(at 33% of the full size, mind you!) might give a general idea. I had a lot of fun with the sword designs - there's a big dragon halberd, some hilts with snakes, one sword with a giant butterfly (hard to spot though), one with an elaborate celtic knot (my first one ever!), one with a horse skull etc. etc.
All in all this took about 16 days of extra furious scribbling in Corel Painter 9 (and complaining to everyone willing to listen) with Wacom Intuos 3.
Edit: I put a tutorial on how I drew the chains up here . Maybe someone will find that useful.
Edit nr.2: Got included in Exotique 4 by Ballistic, on page 27. Yay!
May be reposted unmodified for as long as my full name and preferably a link back to my gallery are provided along with the image in a clear fashion.

A very interest idea, you have done well. Great assortment of details, particularly those which highlighted the less obvious sins, love the feathers and pose. If I may, I think it was a good idea to leave out Envy and Gluttony, would have just lessened its quality. Well done, keep it up.

This composition arrests the eye the second the image loads on the monitor. Contrast light/dark binaries of color and flawlessly toned skin draw the eye along the twisted and unnerving sensuality of this image. It's greatest strength, I believe, lies within the asymmetry of the picture, everything moves along unusual line-art that deceives the eye into expecting something different, such as the shape of the richly detailed crucifix, or the sharp crags it sticks out of. The only thing that is unusual is the placing of the sunburst in the background, which feels somewhat off to me, as though it should be raised higher or simply reduced and dropped to the bottom creating a more aurora borealis effect along the bottom of the picture frame. All in all, spectacular work with multiple themes combined with stunning sophistication and talent. An instant favorite.

Artist, if I may speak so boldly:
I'm not sure if you see this, but this song comes forth when I see this beautiful artwork:

I think it fits very wonderfully, but that is just my own interpretation.

This picture reminds me of less demonic version of "Seeking Solace" by GunnerRomantic. Very wonderful artwork by the way
