Don't be sad Vulpix, you're still awesome ... So if you excuse me, I have to get my new fire starter for the next Pokemon game.
Wow I can't believe it, almost 2 years after my "Zorua vs Vulpix" drawing (which for some reason got more than 15.000 views), I have the chance to do a new picture featuring Vulpix, Zorua and the new fire starter of Pokemon X and Y (What a strange name ... reminds me of Chromosomes). At first I wasn't so exited for the new PokΓ©mon generation but I now I can't wait to get my hands on thegame! Fennekin looks so cute, I just have to chose it as my starter So please Game Freak ... don't screw up its evolutions D :
Anyway first I have to play through Black 2 and buy an 3DS ...
So bought my self a 3DS XL xD

Fennekin's name is based off of a fennik fox, one of the smallest foxes in the world. They are only located in the sahara dessert.

Vulpix and Ninetales are based off of Kitsune, which are fox-spirits/demons from Japanese folklore. Fennekin is based on a fennec fox. So, its different enough to justify its existence. I just hope to God it won't evolve into a fire/fighting pair of foxes. Seriously, ENOUGH with the fire/fighting starter evos. It was unique when Combusken and Blaziken came along, it was even still kinda cool when Monferno and Infernape came out, but when we got Pignite and Emboar....I was about to mail Nintendo and tell them to get more creative.

That would be terrible if they made Fennekin a fire/figh again. I' tired of this typ combination, hopfully they'll just make it a pure fire pokemon or something like ... psychic/fire xD

I actually wouldn't be too keen on Fire/Psychic either. I think it'd be too much like the Vulpix/Ninetales line. True, Vulpix and Ninetales aren't psychic types, but they do display psychic tendencies. If they did make it Fire/Psychic, I'd want them to make a concerted effort to make it different from Ninetales. Maybe make Fennekin's evolutions bipedal.
If there's one type that I think should be the subtype, it'd be Rock, since fennec foxes are actually native to the desert. Either that or Ground.

Also true ... Something like a fire/rock or ground type would really fit to Fennekin. But it is still possible that it will turn out to be a psychic type, because it seems to use a psychic move during the trailer of Pokemon X/Y. But who knows, maybe it will just stay a pure fire type ... But as long they don't make it a fighting type, I'm satisfied.

Something that I noticed about the 3 fox pokemon. That they all somewhat pertain to a different breed of fox. Vulpix for the most commonly known Red fox, and also pertaining to the Japanese 9 fox, so that explains the tails. As for Zorua, there is a Fox breed called the Silver Fox which is basically a Black Fox with a white tail tip. And Fennekin, (theirs irony in the name in this one) Its a Fennec Fox, which is a small fox with GIANT ears and a somewhat large head.
So in other words, YES there are allot of Foxes in Pokemon's spotlight, BUT they are all slightly different and are somewhat related to a certain breed.
Just something to think about and something I noticed AS SOON AS I SAW Fennekin for the first time......especially with the name I was all like 'Fennec Fox, all the way' I'm happy its a starter.

Just what I think, too many foxes there and they shouldn't have let fox too be a starter and be so common among the trainers. Such Pokemon should be exclusive.

I guess they made Fennekin as a starter, because fox pokemon are just so popular among players. I think it's cool that they made fox as a starter but that makes it of course more "mainstream "^^

True, Fennekins head is a bit big ... That's the reason why I often prefer fan art over the official artwork. There are so much awesome drawings of Fennekin with a smaller head ... But I still think that the fire starter looks really cute^^

If it is going to look like on official image, that is just too big for that body... Some girls obviously like head larger than body and very big eyes, but when you look at her makes you think she will walk and fall on its face due to weight of its head. Aside from that, I think Fennekin is the cutest from new starters. Hopefully she will get a descant-looking evolution. After voltorb and vanilluxe, what's next ? Pokemon-sandwich maybe ? If we are going after food and things designs might as well have a toilet-pokemon ( that would be a poor one...) After that we only need a vacuum-cleaner.

"150 PokΓ©mon, ja das sind wirklich viel" -> wieviele sind's mittlerweile, bzw. werden es sein? Man ehrlich, Game Freak ΓΌbertreibt so langsam. Dass auch die KΓ€mpfe (endlich?) in 3D sein werden (hello-ho, Pkmn-Stadium!) ist zwar cool, aber dass man dann wieder 'ne neue Konsole brΓ€uchte..? Vielleicht in zehn Jahren oder mehr, wenn man's Spiel wie auch den 3DS fΓΌr 'nen Pfennig kriegt X)
