Description
I hope I get in!!NAME: Yang Qiu
AGE: Physical: 22; Actual: 500+
GENDER: Male
SEXUALITY: Not into kids
HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 5’7’’/140 lbs
SPECIES: Spirit (The White Tiger of the West)
PERSONALITY:
Gentle/Shy/Clumsy/Nice/Protective /Brave /Judgemental /Territorial/Possessive
Qiu is a nice person, meaning, he’s kind and treats everyone with the respect and courtesy that they deserve. However, he isn’t necessarily friendly. He is capable of making small talk, but he isn’t the type to open up in one interaction, tell you everything about himself, and immediately declare you, ‘friend’.
He’s quite shy and likes to observe people from the comfort of the cover of the forest foliage. Being alone and watching others have fun without him doesn’t bother him at all. It makes him happy to see others’ happiness, and he hates seeing powerless people get hurt.
Qiu can be quite protective towards friends, but he’s especially protective of the underdog. Regardless of how many attackers there might be, if he sees someone needs help, he’ll jump in and try his best to protect and get them to safety.
Although he seems to be quite athletic, there are times when he is surprisingly clumsy, For instance, he might misjudge how far he has to jump, or he might trip over his own feet. It’s as if he is unused to his own body at times! He is a little clumsy with communicating as well. It’s not that he doesn’t understand the language, but it seems like he’s unused to speaking verbally. Otherwise, he has a very expressive face and very expressive body language.
Qiu can be quite judgemental and self-righteous. He’s quite certain of what he thinks is right and wrong, and will act upon it, especially if it ends with lives being saved.
A strong personality trait that remained with him from his time as a normal tiger is that Qiu can be extremely territorial. He’s possessive of land, belongings, and people. If he thinks something (or someone) is being taken from him, he’ll get upset and try to prevent that from happening.
HISTORY:
Forgotten memories:
(At this point, Qiu has no name, but it’s easier to refer to him as Qiu anyways.)
Qiu was born as a normal South China tiger. He was born and lived in Hunan, China. Qiu doesn’t remember his life as a tiger and only has vague, fuzzy, flashes of that time. He knows that he lived quite a content and (unnaturally) long life, however.
Amazingly, he lived as a tiger for 500 years. On the night of his 500th birthday, he was patrolling his territory by the light of the moon when his instincts told him to go in another direction. As an animal, he listened to his instincts. Unbeknownst to him, he was heading towards the Spirit Sanctuary, and his tail was turning white.
Where his memories begin:
Qiu opens his eyes to sunlight streaming through the gaps of a forest canopy. This is when Qiu becomes aware that his name is Yang Qiu. He remembers nothing useful, except he knows that everything about his appearance is wrong and the only thing that is right is his 5 senses. He doesn’t know why he thinks it’s wrong, though, and he wishes he knew why he’s always expecting an orange tail instead of a white one- or why his long, pale, hairless limbs disturb him.
And he definitely doesn’t know why crawling feels right and wrong at the same time. It’s the worst, learning how to move, because he knows that he should know how to do all these things already. The unfamiliar surroundings make everything so much more stressful. Becoming coordinated (again?) is a nightmare for Qiu, and the next few weeks are filled with frustration.
It’s a relief when he can walk 20 steps without falling flat on his face. When he manages to walk 30 minutes without any trouble, he cries, and when he manages an hour, he decides it’s time to explore more of the forest that he’s in.
He hears the Spirit Town before he sees it. When it comes into view, instead of entering it, he crouches and hides beneath the foliage, observing the residents in secret. They look strange, like himself. He doesn’t think he’s ever seen people quite like them before, even in his fuzzy memories.
Qiu pauses and questions himself. Why is he hiding? Oddly, he feels like he wouldn’t be welcomed, but he hasn’t had any previous experience with this place before. Flashes of fire, loud noises, and the glint of something deadly enter the forefront of his mind, and it takes him ages before he leaves the comfort of the forest to brave the town. Even then, he waits until there’s barely anybody around.
On one of his (few) excursions into the village, he finds a mask lying abandoned in an alleyway. It’s a half mask that is made to cover the face from the nose to the chin. Looking at the menacing teeth makes him feel nostalgic. After looking at his reflection with the mask on, he feels right in a way that he hasn’t felt since he woke up in the forest, and it makes him tear up a little. Qiu takes the mask with him unapologetically. If it was someone’s, they obviously didn’t care for it that much to leave it in a stinky alleyway.
Protector:
The first time he saves a human, it’s a human that has their leg trapped underneath a boulder. Qiu feels an overwhelming urge to try and help, even if he thinks he has no power to do anything about this situation. It’s a distressing half hour, especially when the human starts crying. Upset, and not knowing what else to do, Qiu decides to attempt to push the boulder. He knows it should have been all for naught, and that it shouldn’t have been possible for someone of his size to move such a big thing...but the boulder moves. Qiu moves it quite easily, in fact.
It’s a huge shock for both Qiu and the human, who thanks Qiu profusely.
The human stays with Qiu while she heals up, and during that time, Qiu learns a lot about humans. He learns that humans can’t see in the dark, can’t hear very well, can’t smell all that well, and aren’t all that fast. The face Qiu makes when he learns these things clearly shows that he’s wondering how the heck such a species had survived, and the human girl laughs loudly in response.
“Stubbornness,” the girl says when she gets control of herself. “That’s how.”
When she’s all healed, Qiu lets her know that if she needs anything, to come and find him.
The second human that he saves is in a situation similar to the first. This one is in the middle of a lake and drowning, however. Even though Qiu is skilled at swimming, saving this human is just as difficult as saving the first. This second human fights Qiu every step of the way, nearly drowning both of them several times. When they do get to the shore, the human is unsurprisingly very rude and unpleasant.
Qiu doesn’t offer any future help to this one, but he is glad he managed to save him. (And he’s very glad he managed not to drown, himself.)
The third human that he saves is from a god who decided to attack the poor thing for fun. It’s clear that the god was just bored and being unnecessarily cruel. It makes Qiu very angry. Without thinking, Qiu charges at the god who is so distracted by the human that they don’t see him coming. Qiu manages to land a solid hit to the god’s side, and the god goes flying across the field. Without the element of surprise, he knows that there’s no way he’d ever be able to defeat the god, so he grabs the human and flees to safety.
It’s with this human that he learns that humans aren’t actually supposed to exist in this realm, and that the reason why they’re here is because they went through a strange looking gate. After they part, Qiu decides that he’ll keep a more active eye out for humans in need, and that he really would like the gate to be closed or destroyed so that more helpless humans won’t accidentally stumble through.

Supernatural Strength:
-If he were to put all of his effort and strength into it, his punches are strong enough to easily punch a hole in a tree. (Shattering bones is something he can do easily.) His kicks are a bit stronger and if he stomps hard enough on the ground or on a boulder, it’ll crack slightly.
-Qiu is able to pick up no more than 2,000 pounds at a time.
-In short, 30 second bursts, the fastest he can run is 20 mph.
Weaknesses:
-Not all that durable; his bones will break just as easily as anybody else’s if he isn’t careful.
-If he tries to lift or punch through something that is beyond his strength, he’ll definitely receive damage.
-Using super strength too much/too long will zap his stamina quickly.
-When sprinting at top speed, he can only sprint 3 times consecutively before he gets too tired to run (or move) anymore.

EXTRAS:
-Cannot purr
-The South China tiger is smaller than the other mainland tigers, which is one reason why I chose that particular breed. Another reason is that its habitat consists of forests, mountains, and being near bodies of water is essential for it.
-Tiger senses:
Left over from his time as a tiger, he can still see in the dark (six times better than a human can, at least). During the day, his sight is about the same as a human’s. He also has a very good sense of hearing.
-Qiu is clumsy in his movements, not with holding back his strength. He doesn’t have many incidents with hurting people on accident, and if he does, he was probably very emotional at the time.

Relationships:
Song: He really doesn’t like dirt or bugs for some reason...Perhaps dirt and bugs are dangerous for humans? Song and Qiu meet while they’re both on a walk. Qiu ends up carrying Song around a lot and Song likes to make sure Qiu is well washed.
Xuanyang: Older brother! (Xuanyang’s nickname for him is Xiaohu) Xuanyang and Qiu didn’t get along at first. Xuanyang thought Qiu was too reckless and had no proper fighting technique. It annoyed him. Qiu, not wanting to get into conflict, avoided Xuanyang. They are forced to interact in a fight with something big and after that Xuanyang resignedly offers Qiu some fighting lessons. They are on better terms now and Qiu likes to tease him about trees and heights but...Xuan is much more witty than Qiu is, so Qiu will be defeated in most of those banters…
Yue: A friendly girl who he saved from some angry spirits! It seems to happen a lot...She gave him some jade and rice cakes- the rice cakes were very good. Apparently she's from the moon???
