I've always been a tremendous fan of the Bond Franchise, so when I first started dabbling in vector graphics, I always had it in the back of my head that I wanted to put my own style on some very famous and very iconic movie posters.
The Living Daylights is adored by a certain, very vocal, segment of the Bond fanbase. While Pierce Brosnan was initially cast as Bond a full eight years before he would later win the part again, Timothy Dalton was a necessary departure from the near-pastiche of the later Moore films. While TLD had its weaknesses--a weak (and solo) Bond girl, unintimidating villains, and some off-key one-liners left over from the Moore era--it's major accomplishment was one of tone. Bond was, again, a real character, and someone to be feared. Another element the Dalton years unquestionably did well, were the pre-title sequences. The TLD sequence introduced Bond in a training exercise in Gibraltar that goes wrong when someone begins using live ammunition. This sets off the plot very effectively, introducing the "Smiert Spionnam" motif and introduces Bond by having him chase down an assassin on the roof of a truck speeding down the mountain roads of Gibraltar. Dalton is rewarded with one of the more spectacular introductions of the new Bond actor in the franchise's history.
