Description
I took the time to play with my water color paints, using wax crayons.

The top half of the page was gessoed, the other half not.
Each is marked with how the wax worked. Using it under or over the paint has its own virtues, but under the paint wins out a little more.

The paint itself seemed to spread more on the gesso, making it a bit lighter, while the plain paper the paint dried darker.
