He's a squid so of course this was an inevitability. I have a vague idea for this au, where Verve is a marine biologist, and Xenaut is again subject to experimentation, except instead of for super soldier purposes by the military, it's for finding vulnerabilities to mer, bc mer are an issue to corporations due to their tendency to resort to eco-terrorism to defend their home. Or something to that effect. Anyway Verve finds Xenaut after he escapes and decides to help him out despite the fact that he v much is not a fan of humans at this point and tries to kill them. Biologists are insane tho and that is no obstacle to wresting an angry squid into their truck and dumping him back into the ocean.
