I've wanted to animate something with Shantae and Rottytops since I made the hallowen special "Trick or treat ", and I had the idea of Chibi Rottytops nomming Shantae's head for some silly reason.
However, back then I didn't have enough animation skills to actually make it. It's not perfect, but it's a great way to practice so I can do better ones in the future

I would agree that Pirate's curse had an art style that was maybe not suited for everyone. However, I've come to accept the fact that each Shantae game has a different art style and direction so I didn't mind it that much.
If you compare the style from that game to 1/2 Hero you'll see how different they are: Link
I can't be sure, but it might have something to do with them pushing to the Japanese market. After all, I think it was the first Shantae game to have a physical release in Japan

The ESRB is the one that ultimately decides the rating.
I'm not sure how they decide because I don't work for them, but it's up to them to say if the game is appropriate for a certain audience or not
They could easily rate the game Teen or above if they wanted.

They would probably have to launch a kickstarter campaign to do it. But I would like them to focus on a great new game so they bring more fans

What makes you think they would have to do all that just to make an animated series based on the game? How come they can't just do it right now?

Because you need a good budget for an animation like that, Even producing a pilot episode can cost a lot money. With the pilot already done, you can get a network to invest in the project.
Since they started a kickstarter for Half-genie hero, I imagine they don't have the kinda of money needed to produce an animation. WayForward is still an indie studio after all.

Wanna know what I think would be cool? If there were an anime series of Shantae. But would that cost more? After making it in Japan they would have to translate it to English so people can understand what they're saying.

They would also have to make Shantae a popular series in Japan. And I believe Pirate's curse is the first one they've managed to translate and publish over there, so they might be on the way for something like that to happen.

They should make a movie out of it, A horror thriller one XD Because I don't know what happened, it's terrifying mistery. In the end they reveal who's responsible for killing the game
