Have you noticed in Zelda Minish Cap Zelda turns into stone.And then again in Zelda Phantom Hourglass, Tetra turns into stone?XD
Can you see a bit of ranting between those two?

I don't think we've seen the end of this "Princess gets petrified" idea. And honestly, I don't mind that. Zelda/Tetra make good statues :3

I have noticed that before but honestly People getting petrified into statues is just as big a plot device as Princess kidnaping, its just a way to motivate the hero into action ^_^

The hero seeing the princess get petrified is a good way to up the dramatic ante. Though obviously if you keep doing it, it starts losing its flair...
