Mirakki as a species (c) lemonyh & ThatDenver
Artwork (c) lemonyh
Mirakki are large creatures that resemble canines, but are in fact not related to any animals on earth. On closer inspection, they share similarities with felines and equines as well as canines, but due to their appearance, people usually call them “dogs”.
There are three breeds of Mirakki: Knight, Pariah and Prince. These names are loose translations of their original, alien names.
Physical characteristics: Knights are large and strong, well-muscled dogs. They have deep chests and square builds with gentle tuck-up, standing well over their pads in balanced composure. They should never have much loose skin. The head is broad with slight roman profile, and always in proportion to the rest of the body. Muzzle is bulky, not greatly diminishing in width from root to nose and jaws are always very powerful. Males especially often have round cheeks. They have expressive faces that indicate affectionate disposition. Eyes are medium-sized and almond-shaped. Ears are medium-sized and triangular with slightly rounded shape, set wide apart on line with upper corner of the eye.
The neck is strong and moderately arched. Shoulder should have a fairly steep slope and the chest should be well developed. The dog appears longer than it is tall, with a straight, non-sloping back and well-muscled, fairly short loins. The tail follows the line of the spine and is moderately set, curling upwards when alert and resting straight when relaxed. Forelegs are strongly boned and muscled, and should be straight to the pasterns when viewed from front. Pasterns are short and slope slightly when viewed from side. Paws are large with tight fitting, arched toes. The pads are thick and tough, with semi-retractable, strong claws. Rear legs are broad and very heavily muscled, with moderate bending on the stifles and hocks. When viewed from the rear, movements should be straight and powerful.
Males are larger and more muscular than females.
