In Chimoa’s social circle, she has been deemed the sort of Mom Friend to the others. An independent young adult, Chioma isn’t afraid to take charge or do things on her own, having steadfast confidence in her abilities to perform. She’s always the go-to when someone needs an honest, non-sugar coated opinion on something, and while it may be a difficult pill to swallow she knows her honesty is something to be valued. Not one to have her head in the clouds, she can easily be defined as a realist; she figures that the best way to handle life’s challenges is to not fantasize over what could be, but to see things for what they truly are, even when you don’t necessarily want to. Chioma is very goal driven and refuses to focus on anything else when she has work to be done, keeping her mind firmly planted in her task for hours at a time. Often times she can be seen neglecting her need for food and sleep, grabbing small snacks here or there as she works and staying up well into the night. She knows how detrimental this is for her health, and as of late she’s tried to cull this habit to prevent the inevitable ‘wow okay I need to just chill and recover from all that’ days, but admittedly when a task is new and exciting she can’t stop herself from pushing herself. This can make others view her as a rigid stick in the mud, and she’ll admit that this is sometimes the case, but she prefers to think of herself as hardworking and stable.

Once outside of the classroom or situations that need her maturity, Chioma is quite the fun loving lady! She likes a good party like anyone else, and isn’t afraid to abandon her Mom Friend persona in order to do something a little dangerous every now and again. Because hey, life needs a good balance of work and play! Her curiosity knows no bounds, and while she may be a realist she isn’t afraid to explore ideas in the realm of possibility. This helps a lot considering her field of study, astrophysics, where it seems like there’s always new things to learn and uncover. Overall Chioma is a fun-loving, curious young adult that works doggedly at her passions with a very down to earth demeanor.

HISTORYBorn into a very well-off and hardworking family from Cloud Hollow, the city of New Haven and the surrounding areas have always been seen as home to the bright young girl. With her mother being a pediatrician and her father being a children’s book author, life at home for Chioma and her brother would be considered very blended and beneficial for their young minds. Both sciences and arts were encouraged for the kids, and while their mother was off at the clinic they could always count on their stay-at-home father to be there for them after school. Money was luckily not a concern for the small family, but Chioma’s parents made sure that their kids weren’t spoiled and knew how to maturely handle money and expenses. They would often attend charity galas and work at the soup kitchens in New Haven, their parents working hard to instill good work ethic and a passion for giving back to their community into their young children.

When it came time for Chioma to attend school her parents picked out the best public school they could find (as they felt private school was a bit too snooty) it was abundantly clear that the young girl had a bright future ahead of her. Her parents did her right by providing her with all of the tools needed to help her young mind grow to its utmost potential. Being as enthused about schooling as she could be, every day seemed like a new adventure for Chioma as she gained new knowledge and befriended the other kids. By the time Chioma was in middle school and paying attention to social classes became more prevalent, it was clear that some of her other classmates looked down on her for being upper class. They attributed her success to her families wealth, bypassing all of the hard work the young teen put into her studies and passions. This cut Chioma deeply, and she began to resent her parents for the wealth they worked hard to obtain. Why couldn’t they just be average like all of her other classmates parents? Why did they have to go the extra mile and stand out so much? This way of thinking didn’t last long for the teen, as she knew why her parents worked so hard to obtain this kind of life. And after all, the family often gave their money back to the community, so it wasn’t like they were being snooty rich people.

High school went by fairly well for Chioma, finding a good balance between work and play as she solidified her social circle even more. As time to look for colleges arrived and the excitement of her classmates bubbled up, Chioma and her friends were eagerly discussing all of their options. Whether to move out of state, stay in state, or even attend one of the local colleges was ever present on the young adults minds. Chioma had her heart set on a local college that had an excellent astrophysics department, and she could even stay at home to diminish the cost, but there was a deep need inside of her to get out and carve her own way in life, to no longer follow in her parents footsteps. She wanted to experience life outside of the safety net her parents provided for her, so when it came time to officially start college Chioma and one of her friends rented out an apartment in the Downtown district, commuting to school from the colorful and diverse part of town they now called their own.

It had been 3 years since Chioma finally started college and her life seemingly changed drastically, and while it took a while to adapt to the new setting the young adult wouldn’t change it for the world. When New Years arrived Chioma and her roommate went a few blocks over to another one of their friends parties, the apartment buzzing with drunken college students excited to bring in the new year. Chioma went a little hard celebrating the semester finally being over, and right before midnight struck she found herself propped onto her friends toilet, with a bottle of water and a laptop live-streaming the ball drop someone had graciously set onto the plush rug next to her. When the clock struck midnight the whole room went pitch black, and the drunk adult could hear complaining coming from the rest of the party from behind the closed door. Setting her head back onto the toilet, Chioma almost didn’t catch the distorted light coming from the laptop. Almost. She watched in drunken confusion as a clawed hand hauled itself out of the screen, the plastic bending as something began painstakingly pulling itself through. Yeah, that was definitely a night.

PersonalityThe first thing many people notice about Patch is that this digimon likes to sleep. A lot. Often found cuddling onto his tamers arm with eyes firmly closed, it is fairly apparent that this Phascomon has the usual laziness of its kind. With a laidback and aloof demeanor, it is easy for Patch to be underestimated, just the way he likes it. See even though Phascomon do sleep a lot, Patch here often pretends to be dreaming away when in fact he’s wide awake, listening in on others conversations and gathering information. Despite his looks he’s as sharp as a tack, and is incredibly observant of the situations happening around him. And of course, being the little devil that he is, Patch likes to cause mischief for those around him through small pranks or teasing words. Chioma isn’t really a fan of his antics, especially seeing as Patch could easily redirect his energy towards something more productive, and she definitely lets him know her feelings. Still though, she wants to digimon to learn from his mistakes and not coddle him, so Chioma can sometimes be seen biting her tongue and letting the consequences of his actions play out.

One of Patch’s many downfalls is his lack of goals; aside from collecting info to tease others about later this digimon is fairly aimless, and will rarely exert his full energy for something he deems useless. This is the main conflict between him and Chioma: both of them are so independent that it’s difficult to get them on the same page about something, often wanting to go their own ways when it comes to certain situations. They’re working on being a team and taking each other’s opinion into account though, it’s just a work in progress! All in all though Patch is a pretty good digimon that just wants to sleep and cause a lil mischief every now and again, his easygoing demeanor lining up well with Chioma’s dogged nature.

HistoryOnce Patch was able to pull himself through the computer screen- and let’s be real, it felt like the poor Phascomon was trying to push against a brick wall- he tumbled out onto the plush blue rug to find quite the scene before him. His tamer was holding onto some kind of... transportation device with a bewildered expression on her face, and she looked a little sick...? Whatever, that’s not important right now, as she started to freak out the little digimon flew up, latched onto her head and buried her face into his tummy fur so her voice wouldn’t draw anyone’s attention, and started lazily explaining his reasoning for Johnny-ing out of the laptop. ‘I’m a digimon, you’re my tamer/partner, we gotta do something uuuh I forget what though, etc etc ad nauseam’. Yeah, that didn’t work well on Chioma’s drunken mind. Clearly this was all a drunken dream- gotta lay off those lemon drop shots man- and when she woke up this little koala would be just a memory. The little koala that has currently fallen asleep on her face. With all of the fortitude and responsibility of the slightly less drunk friend who has to usher all of the slightly more drunk friends into the Uber, Chioma snuck out of the bathroom with Patch cradled like a baby, to the room with her winter coat, said goodbye to her friends, and snuck out the front door with digimon in hand (or coat, really).

Chioma has no recollection of how she got home, but that doesn’t really matter considering that she woke up the next morning with that thing clinging to her pillow fast asleep. Aaaand cue introductions again. It was hard for the young adult to believe, but the evidence was right in front of her. Who wouldn’t believe that that lil Pokémon thing was real when they could reach out and touch it, ya know?

4 months passed since Chioma and Patch first met, and now that she’s stopped referring to him as a Pokémon things seemed to be on the up and up. Chioma went to school, Patch stayed in her bedroom to eat and play on her switch. Chioma went to do research on how to find other Tamers, Patch nestled into her backpack and threw occasional pens at passerby. Chioma finally had some downtime to play on her switch, Patch whined that he never gets to play it until she either kicks his butt at smash bros or he falls asleep. The Source had given them very vague information, and while Chioma tried to inquire to it for more the other side was dead silent. She knew she and others had to help their digimon save both worlds, but she didn’t even know where to start. And Patch was literally no help considering whenever she asked him about his world it involved responses like “well, there’s grass... and uh... trees.” The only other seeming digimon-related incident she came across was when, meandering through a secondhand shop in the first week after meeting Patch, she happened across a cute lil Tamagotchi thing that came to life when she bumped into it, establishing the duos first and only connection to The Source. Well, all Chioma could hope for was that they’d eventually stumble across some other evidence of a Tamer and their digimon, but in the meantime they gotta work on that whole “yep I’m just a stuffed animal” act.
