Shaken by the struggles of the UNSC to combat the rising Banished threat, Dr. Catherine Halsey oversaw a program beginning in 2557 CE meant to produce a new type of Spartan, physically capable of overpowering the most imposing of humanity's enemies - in particular, Jiralhanae. Volunteers for the Spartan IV program were secretly shunted into this new experimental program, which would in time produce soldiers for the UNSC standing over ten feet tall and capable of throwing a Warthog.

However, there was one problem with the genetic alterations ONI scientists made to create this new breed of Spartans: they overshot the appetite requirements necessary for regular-sized humans to metamorphose into these brute-wrestling giants. Most of the volunteers ended up with bodyfat percentages higher than acceptable (25%) for mobility requirements of the program, and were not sent on the high risk combat operations intended.

One particular volunteer, to Halsey's chagrin, harbored another secret: an undisclosed gaining fetish. The genetically jacked-up appetite sent her fetish into overdrive, and she became the first ever obese Spartan in the program's entire history, eating everything in sight for three whole years.

Alice B-918 ballooned from a relatively svelte 5'9" and 159 lbs, upon induction to the Spartan IV program, to an elephantine 10'8" and 1630 lbs out of armor. This required a diet of 30,000 calories per day, on average.
