[Suspicious] Flickerpool is generally suspicious of others at first. She values trust very highly and therefore won't trust just anyone. Others have to prove themselves of her trust, but once they do, Flickerpool is a great ally to have.

[Strong-willed] Flickerpool is stubborn and strong-willed. She will sway to others', but only if she truly believes their way is the best way. She doesn't want to cause trouble, but if she knows someone is going about something the wrong way she will voice her opinion, and even act on it if need be.

[Expressive] It's pretty easy to tell how Flickerpool feels by her actions and expressions. It's difficult for her to hide how she feels because her personality is so intense.

[Well-mannered] Flickerpool values good manners pretty highly. If you respect her, she will definitely respect you, but antagonize her and you'll receive harsh words back.

History

[kithood] Flicker was born outside of the Tideclan camp because her mother, Deepshade, kept her pregnancy a secret; she didn’t want to raise kits without her mate, who had died recently. Flicker was born unbreathing along with her brother Rush. Deepshade, swamped in guilt and depression, was forced to leave them. Two rogues came along, Ginger and Gabe, and Ginger realized that the kit’s lungs were blocked by fluid. She and her mate held the kits upside down until the fluid escaped and both kits were mewing. [apprentice age] Gabe and Ginger revealed to the young cats how they had been found, not wishing to lie to them about their origins. They never knew whether their mother had been a loner or a clan cat, but either way, Flicker felt abandoned. Her brother often found her looking out over the territories, a look of wonder and hurt in her gold eyes.

[warrior] One day, Flicker came across the Tideclan healer apprentice, Branchpaw. She helped him collect herbs and even thought him friendly. Branchpaw's cousin, Frigidnight, came upon them and attacked Flicker, thinking the stranger a rogue. Branchpaw told Frigidnight how Flicker had been found of Tideclan territory, and Frigidnight promptly left them to tell her former mentor and present deputy of Tideclan, Deepshade, what she'd seen. Deepshade revealed to her that she had kits out in the territory, and that she had named them Flicker and Rush. The two went looking for Branchpaw, but Flicker had left. He led them to where the loner said she lived, and from them they all discovered that Flicker and Rush were the kits Deepshade had thought to be dead.

Flicker was allowed into the clan with her brother Rush and they became warriors after a moon of probation under Shellstar. They were made official warriors and named Flickerpool and Rushflight. Deepshade was very proud of them, but Flickerpool still held resentment toward her mother for abandoning them, even though Deepshade had thought them dead.

Flickerpool is currently in love with Branchlegs, the healer of Tideclan, and is often frustrated by the warrior code that says healers can’t take mates. She works every day to prove that she is a worthy warrior even though she was not born in the clans.

Flicker stretched beside her brother, letting out a huge yawn. The she-cat rose from her place, taking time to groom herself before leaving the warrior's den. It had been two sunrises since she and her brother had been accepted into Tidelcan on the premise that they prove themselves worthy of being warriors. The young cat padded out of the den and made her way to the fresh-kill pile, noticing Frigidnight on the way. "Hi Frigidnight," she mewed casually. Her mother Deepshade was very partial to the blue gray cat, and Flicker thought she seemed nice enough despite their first meeting. She chose a fish for herself and watched Frigidnight inconspicuously. Flicker wondered if maybe they would have been good friends, if she had been born here in Tideclan.
