a test in the various new features that i somehow missed in mspaint. featuring a stunnit, a pair of canisaurs, and an ai-generated woodland backdrop.

first off, let's get this part out of the way: yes, the background is AI. i tried Cocreator, which is this beta AI image generator that MSpaint currently has.

now, from the last time i talked about AI art and stuff, my mind has now kinda shifted; maybe i'm not AS mad at people constantly using AI art, more so being mad at the people who don't label it as AI artwork. i'm not joking when i say that i've seen some pretty neat art that's clearly the work of AI, but have it get ruined by the lack of any clear statement that it's AI-generated artwork. it's honestly not that hard to put it in the title or description.
but, i do find some use in AI-generated artworks, as depicted here: in this case, i used it to generate a background, so i could test some other things as well. i honestly think that it didn't to that bad of a job; probably because the prompt was along the lines of "forest floor of a redwood forest", which seems like something that's kinda hard to fuck up (unlike actual figures like people or animals).

one of those things is, of course, the new "remove background" feature, which takes and image and does it's best to remove the background. however...it also removes anything that is close to the same color as the "background" itself. i might be me, but it feels like it had a bit more to go. i honestly wish this feature had some extra options to it, like maybe a slider of sorts or perhaps a way to choose which color to remove like it does with the "transparent selection" and what colors you want to make transparent.
i actually had to fill in the canisaur's neck with a similar color, and even then it tooks some trial and errors and IMO i just overall think it needs some better refinements to make it work better.

the final thing is the multi-layer mode they have now. not much to say here, other than this being by far the most useful thing in this new updated version.

but yeah, that's basically this post overall. cocreator has its usage, the background remover is annoying to deal with, and multilayer mode is pretty neet. i might post some more tests on these new features, but i still have a bunch more drawings to deal with.
