Description Amber Chloe Carson (nee March) was the youngest March child.

Amber starts as a twelve-year-old who is a little spoiled. She is with her siblings and is pretty much the only one who does not wholeheartedly agree to the siblings' choice to give Margaret gifts to ensure their gratitude to her. She later overcomes that greediness and gives her a better gift. After a few chapters, she comes into as much mischief as Olivia, like getting struck by her teacher for bringing pickled limes to school, burning all of Olivia's beautiful stories for George to read when he got back from the Vietnam War because of jealousy, and because of that, intentionally falls into a crack in the ice. When Quinton gets scarlet fever, Amber is forced to stay with Auntie Mei and is bribed by Ken that she would be able to watch the theatre whenever she likes. She is chosen by Auntie Mei to accompany her to Europe, much to Olivia's dismay. Amber became a dignified lady and is the only one who wants to marry a wealthy man so she would not have a hard time in terms of finance but at the last minute turns Trey Reardon down, and marries Ken instead. It is said she called him 'My Lord'. She is very happy and gives birth to Quinton Laurence, named after her late brother and is absent during the later books due to doing some art in France.

Amber begins as a young woman who is often vain and spoiled due to being the baby of the family. Out of all the siblings, she might be the opposite of Olivia. Even though her morals improved throughout the books, she is still spoiled. If you look nearer, you will see that Amber is the most practical when it comes to romance in that time for she understood marrying a wealthy man is practical and will grant a life of stability in contrast to Eva. She later decides that she won't be happy doing that and marries Ken instead. Amber is artistic, creative and is intelligent if you look at her vocabulary. Even at the start with her selfish demeanour, she reprimands herself for it and wants to change.

When Amber was first introduced as a twelve-year-old, she was described as being pale and slender, with black eyes and straight black hair tied in a ponytail. Later on, at sixteen, she came to be considered as "the plant of the family", for she already had the air and bearing of a fully-matured woman whose hair, dress, and every movement embodied genuine grace. Her black hair was also "more dark and abundant than ever", and with her wide mouth and firm chin, she looked like a person of character. Even after she became a wife and mother, Amber seemed ageless — she was described as being stately and graceful, and always dressed in a simple yet elegant style that always gave others the impression that she was "the best-dressed lady in the room".

  • Amber is inspired from the youngest Reyes sister, Alicia, who ironically nicknamed herself after her mother's maiden name.
