Description
The coat I sewed this week. It's not entirely done- it's not lined, there are no clasps/buttons (they will not be buttons, really. I'm not sewing buttonholes) Also, I used newspaper as a replacement for interfacing because I didn't have any, so I''ll probably rework that later. But that may take a bit to get to, so I'm uploading pics now.The pattern was made by me, on pieces of newspaper, roughly based off the design of Howl's coat (from the movie Howl's Moving Castle)- which I plan to make later, because I decided that I like it
The material is uphostry fabric, from a huge bolt my grandmother gave me years ago. I always thought it was pretty ugly, but it looks much better as a coat. I could outfit the entire von Trapp family with what's leftover . . . maybe I should start sewing Lederhosen
I think its wool, but I'm not sure. I'd have to light it on fire to find out . . . hehehe
The bottom hem of the sleeves and coat is hand-sewn, because my sewing machine needle broke and I didn't have another one. Such is life . . . XD

this is way cool. i've been thinking to make a howl jacket out of duct tape. have it reversable, so the red and yellow is on one side and blue and white is on the other. i would wear it all the time

^_^ thanks! That would be really cool. I had been trying to figure out how to sew a reversable one, but I can't seem to get back to this project x_x Maybe someday . . .

OMFG...
I'm so sorry for asking this now.
But do you think I could have a patter for this instead? Since that would save me a lot of altering. It's already almost all of what I wanted to make XXDD I'm so sorry!

Actually, the only hard part would be the sleeves and the sleeve caps. The bodice is rather simple as is the skirt, and I know there's a pattern out there for those parts (I know I've seen it...just gotta find it again).

I've found a lot of information online for costume re-enactors- suggestions for patterns (and how to alter them so they're not 'modern') . . . it might not be as hard as I think.

^_^ I think I will . . . it might take me a bit to get supplies and everything together, but hopefully I'll at least start it sometime this summer- I won't have any time when school starts up again >.<
