Robb stilled and looked down at Gala, who was watching as Jon saddled his horse, Ghost trailing like a white shadow behind him. "It is his choice, Gala."

His daemon shook her head and looked up at him. "He'd stay if you asked him to. He'll always do as you ask."

Robb sighed. "And some day he'd blame me for not letting him live his own life."

"Or he'd thank you for stopping him from making a shit decision just because Mother blames him for something that wasn't his fault."

Again Robb sighed and shook his head. "Gala..."

"If you got him to stay you could name him Stark once you're Lord of Winterfell. You could give him his own keep and he'd be a bannerman and..."

"Enough, Gala!" Robb shot his daemon a sharp, cold look. "I will not take my brother's choice from him. Not now. Not ever. I love him too much to do that."

Gala whined and, though Robb shared her hurt that Jon was leaving them, was taking the black, he would not change his mind. Jon's life was his own. And as much as Robb wished he would stay he would take his brother's choices away. No matter how much he might want to. Sighing again turned and headed to where his Father was readying to leave, Gala trailing silently beside him.
