Out of frigging nowhere at Comic-Con:Anthony: What if the TARDIS was a Transformer?
Me:…..damnit dude, I HAVE enough things I want to draw ALREADY…
But the idea ate my brain and I had to draw it. Otherwise known as a TARDIT: Time And Relative Dimensions In Transformer.
*crickets*
Let us never speak of this again…
'Course the idea's been done before, but *I* hadn't heard of it, which is a total shame. I mean come on, two of my favorite fandoms combined and it NEVER occurred to me? Never? My geek card should be revoked.
I know the TARDIS is technically female ("The Doctor's Wife") but when I first pictured this in my head it was definitely a guy, and any attempts to draw it differently just looked wrong. So maybe its Transformer form is just male, or it's some kind of intergalactic cross-play, or Rule 63, or something, I just liked him better as a he.

Inked in Illustrator, funky science designs and TARDIS image found online and added with a lens flare in Photoshop, on top of a photo I took of a piece of paper in low light.

Yeah, I went with an ultra-simplified G1 type of face...lips are hard to draw

Hhate to burst your bubble but that concept was thought up some years ago (perhaps even a decade ago). In fact I happen to know the gent who thought of the concept did a costume. (see here [link] )

Imagine me jumping up and down madly going "EEEEEEEEE!" What an awesome concept! I don't know about anybody else, but *I've* never heard of this combination before. Or thought of it. Now I'm going to be coming up with ideas for pictures of various conversations between The Doctor and whichever Transformer I think of first. And now you will too. You're welcome.

Oh well for crying out loud, I hadn't considered him talking to other Transformers, now I'm imagining him having a very serious conversation with Optimus and several other Autobots, the Doctor's standing in the TARDIS' hand who's holding him up to eye-level with everybody else, the Doctor's coat dramatically blowing in the wind (I'm thinking Tennant here)...
