Description This is part of a series of sketches I’m drawing for my visual communication drawing class. For this semester we must create a portfolio of 65 self portraits. The idea is to show progression in quality and style, as well as creating portraits that reflect the weeks lesson, think of it as a weekly theme. I won’t be posting all of them because lets face it; with that many portraits in such a short time a lot of them are bound to be crap, but I’ll be posting all of my favourites and some of the ones which are flung far from my comfort zone.

I am very happy with this one. My Dad kept nagging me about the fact that my other portraits where too stylized for his liking, so I sat down in front of the hall mirror and drew myself as realistically as possible just to get him off my back. The shading needs work, but it was late at night and my artificial lighting wasn't really sufficient so I had to improvise a bit.

This is also the first drawing I've done using a Koh-I-Nor progresso stick, at the insistence of my classmates. I am in freaking love here.

All of these are being marked, so feedback would be adored.
