Description I started drawing this when I found out my grandfather was dying from Lymphoma, and finished it when he died a week later.

One of the few things we know about Dan is that his grandma is dead. So I ran with that. Most fandoms I'm into rarely get into any kind of background like that. I guess I could've made something up, but I totally love Dan. So there.

I feel Dan is oddly dis-proportioned, but that was sort of the way I was feeling at the time. I'd also like to think his height is family wide. Hence the grave being so small. Really, I was just wanting so badly to finish it, and I only had so much space.

Sometimes when someone dies, you get this feeling of total isolation, like even though there's a million people around you, you're all alone, so I wanted to depict just him and the grave, like they're the only things existing in space.

I'm also satisfied that I can't tell if he's sad or in a state of loathing or regret or something to that effect. The cartoon *hints* (and I use the term loosely) they didn't get along. Still, you don't have to like someone to feel sadness when they die. I honestly hadn't seen my grandfather in years, but that doesn't mean I didn't love him. That kind of shit, you know?

I've gone on too long.

This is absolutely stunning, and I'm very sorry for your loss. The emotions that are being hidden are still extreme in his body stance. You pulled this off perfectly.

Thank you. I was kind of worried that it wouldn't come off the way I had wanted to, but I'm starting to think there's a universal understanding for what this picture was supposed to represent.

Amazing piece. I've had my grandparents die, and I must say it's not a very pleasant experience TT_TT
You really did a good job depicting a lonely expression. He almost looks a little angry too; perhaps a 'why the heck did you die' kind of expression.

Thank you. ^_^ It helps to know others understand the feeling.
