HISTORY:

Raimundo was born in the city of Sao Arjones, in the South Province. He was the third son of Odilon and Monica Sousa, his older brother being Cesario and his second oldest brother being Angelo. His father worked as a priest in a church whilst his mother worked as a nurse in a infirmary. Crimes and shootouts were common in Sao Arjones due to the strong presence of street gangs. However, whenever criminals would get too close to his family, Raimundo would be saved by Sanjiro, his uncle on his father's side, who practiced Capoeira - and was apparently said to be the best master of this peculiar martial art in the entire world. Because of this, Raimundo grew to idolize his uncle and develop a strong interest for Capoeira.

Due to the limited technology at their disposition, Raimundo and his two brothers spent most of their free time away from their home, hanging around with their friends and playing sports. Odilon and Monica did not allow them to stay out past sunset; to enjoy their evening at home, the family liked to play table games or watch crime shows on TV. However, Raimundo's favorite activity was watching old tapes of combat competitions in which Sanjiro took part as well as working out in the basement. Even though he respected it, Raimundo's father wasn't a big fan of his son's growing passion, hoping he would one day work at the church, just like he did.

During their teenage years, Raimundo, his brothers and their gang of friends liked to skip school and hang around the city, going to clubs and just having fun together. Realizing them to be throwing their future away, Odilon and Monica met with Sanjiro in hopes he could try to convince their sons to take school seriously. Sanjiro understood the situation and organized a meet up with his three nephews, proposing a deal: if they got better grades at school, then he would personally teach them Capoeira. Raimundo immediately accepted, his brothers and friends following suit. Sanjiro instructed them to meet him multiple times a week after school at a local gym near his café, beginning a strict, disciplinary training regimen for all of them, always leaving them in sweat and with their muscles burning. Of everyone in the group, Raimundo was the one who committed the most - Sanjiro describing him as a 'natural' to Capoeira.

One day, Angelo got into a scuffle with the son of a local drug lord, causing him to one night ambush Raimundo's group. The young teens managed to defeat the attackers thanks to their training with Sanjiro. Unfortunately, this wasn't the end of it. The drug lord began to go after the teens on a personal level, attacking not only them but also members of their family at unexpected moments. They even placed a bomb in the church where Odilon worked, resulting in him and other staff members getting injured. As if that wasn't enough, they even ambushed and drowned one of their teen friends. Blinded by rage, Raimundo snuck into the gang's hideout, used his Capoeira skills to beat them up and set fire to everything, including their money. In addition, he also caught the drug lord's son, trapped him in a hold, and actually snapped his neck with his legs. Upon realizing what he did, Raimundo fled the burning scene in panic.

Returning home, Raimundo, in tears, explained what happened to his family, who tried its best to comfort him. Rai fell into a deep depression that lasted many days, during which he refused to leave the bed of his still injured father. Sanjiro eventually came to see him and shared that he also took a life in the past, even if he knew it wasn't his right to do. He explained to his nephew that, at first, the experience also broke him - he believed that he was no longer a good person and that he was no different from the city's criminals. However, instead of permanently giving up on Capoeira, he chose to use the experience to never claim a life again and to use this sacred martial art not to hurt and kill, but to protect - both his family and those who deserve to be protected. These words comforted Raimundo a lot and actually pulled him out of his depression.

As he left home to get groceries with his mother, Raimundo suddenly got ambushed and captured by the drug lord's men. They brought him before the drug lord who started scolding Raimundo in tears for killing his son, the young teen apologizing for his actions. However, the drug lord didn't want to hear anything and intended to burn him alive in retribution after spending long minutes beating him up. That's when Sanjiro, having been warned by Monica, arrived and told him to let his nephew go. The thugs aimed guns at the old man, ready to take him down under the helpless eyes of Raimundo. But then, something crazy happened; when they opened fire, Sanjiro remained calm and actually managed to avoid the bullets with ease, and then took down all the thugs like mere flies. The drug lord was the last one remaining, and naturally, went down easily. True to his manta of not taking lives, Sanjiro simply broke the drug lord's arms beyond repair and punched him hard in the throat to make sure he couldn't communicate anymore, thus preventing him from commanding his crime gang anymore. He then helped his injured nephew and brought him back up, but not before calling the police to arrest the criminals.

About a year passed since these events: Raimundo and his group not only gained a lot of experience in Capoeira, but also got better grades at school. Sanjiro announced that he intended to leave Sao Arjones to go open a café in Sanlo in the Central Province as he believes he'd do better business there. Wanting to continue his Capoeira training and hopefully getting to perform in national competitions, Raimundo asked to accompany him. Odilon and Monica were hesitant at first, but ultimately respected their son's wish. His brothers did not do the same, as Cesario decided to follow in his father's footsteps and become a priest whilst Angelo opted to learn a different sport. That's how Raimundo moved to Sanlo with his uncle, here he still lives to this day. When not going at school or helping Sanjiro with his café, he's either practicing Capoeira or hanging out with his two best friends, Jaguar Martinez and Mackenzie Hogan.
