His character is a joke based around the Metal Gear franchise made by Konami. His name is a romaji pronunciation of "Phantom," which is both a reference to the subtitle of Metal Gear Solid V, "The Phantom Pain," as we as a fun reference to the fact that this is crossing over with Persona 5, and their main character the "Phantom Thieves."
