part of a challenge circulating around dA. original: [link]figured this was a good challenge for me since i don't work with expressions very much. i just chose candy cane laine ( [link] ) and gave it a try.

awesome stuff!!! i think the only one that seems confusing to me, without reading the caption, is fear... although it's tough because i don't think people in real life would exhibit the wide-eyed expression seen in cartoons (but maybe it depends on the degree of fear or the source of it) so maybe yours is right on.

Oh, this is quite a lot. FACS gloves on!
Right off, I'll say that fierce, rage and angry are all the same. Why they've been given three separate categories by the creator of the meme is a mystery to me (though maybe three different intensities...? but why just that one?). "Wtf" and incredulous are also the same, which knocks out a full row. Not being a particularly talented people-artist though, maybe I'm colored by my want not to draw faces.
Bereft almost looks like guilt (eyes down and away), as if she's done something wrong rather than lost something.
Hollow looks like "wonder" more than a totally neutral face, so maybe that would be a better label for it.
Triumph is spot on. It looks great.
Incredulous looks like the lips are not drawn apart enough.
Happy doesn't quite look right, the cheekbone height for a genuine smile is there, but the eyes don't seem to be er...squashed enough. The lips are still together as well, which I find hard to do and keep a genuine smile structure.
I'm not sure fear is right either, but maybe that's a problem of terminology (impending doom versus simmering doubts). Actually, "doubtful" would work better for fear, but that's just me.
Disgusted's lips look off, there should be an upper lip raise instead of the lower lip pushing it up as in a "grin and bear it" smile. Otherwise, spot on with the raised nose and cheekbones, and lowered but not drawn eyebrows.
Sarcastic might work better as "smug".

On incredulous, I meant "pulled together" instead of "drawn apart".
Something that's just occurred to me after I posted was that serious doesn't look very determined at allβbut some people just aren't convincing.
