That’s an opinion, You can have that. I think the point of drawing fanart is to show appreciation to something you like while putting a bit of of yourself into it. And you know reimagine things that you would have liked to see in canon. Sure you can, that’s kind of the point. And while I don’t really think it’s relevant what canon says, I’m not sure who said they couldn’t be bi. It’s not like canon proves their sexuality as it’s never discussed in the show..

Wow you are very invested in the sex life of fictional characters, my dude. I specifically said that I don’t really think canon matters in fanart and fanfiction. I just brought up canon because it seemed important to you. How is it disrespectful to someone who doesn’t exist? Is it so insulting to be gay? I don’t think so and I enjoy seeing people’s interpretations of the characters.

If you say so. I don’t agree, fanart and fanfiction can do whatever they want with the setting, story or characters.. didn’t know I was violating the sacred law of fanart. changing the character’s sexuality changes literally next to nothing about who the character is fundamentally. And you know there’s such a thing as subtext right? Like analyzing meanings in film that isn’t stated out-right.
I just think you have a very close minded view on fan works and what people are “allowed” to do with these characters if you think everyone should adhere to your interpretation(and yes it is your interpretation since we see different things in characters based on our own experiences and what makes us relate with them) of the characters…

It really doesn’t have to be.
Ofcourse they can, I just don’t get your psychoanalysis of people re-imagining their favorite shows. Also I don’t think they state that they only like girls but even if they did I don’t see they point your making. Like I have said, you can have your opinion. Keep it, it’s all yours. But I don’t really see the point in consuming content you find distasteful. I don’t really find zuko and katara together appealing, so I just don’t seek out that content.
(Also if your of the opinion that there is no evidence for zuko at least having a passive interest of the same sex variety then you’ve clearly not checked out some of the books and stuff.. you know, stuff that is indeed canon)
