Description Latrodectus katipo is my study species. Latrodectus genus contains all the widow spiders and they are some of the most medically significant spiders in the world, but they have perfect manners and are gentle, beautiful creatures. Katipo are endangered as their favourite plant, the pingao, is being displaced by invasive marram grass. It is also grazed by mammalian pests such as goats, sheep, wallabies and rabbits.
