Description
A hummingbird from Ecuador. The males have incredible tails that hinder their ability to fly; an example of natural selection as he has to be very fit in order to survive. The females judge this quality by his health (shown in the bright colours) and the length of his tail. He can then pass down his quality genes to his offspring - the males of which also get annoying tails. This painting was stolen in Newcastle, UK - please let me know if you see it anywhere.
Drawn with Inktense pencils.
