I plan to have every chapter of my fangame set up so that it has a particular outfit theme for the main six. Long-term, I'd like to have a dress-up minigame be big a part of my game, though I haven't added minigame support to my fangame's engine, yet---I'm still working on customizable NPCs at the moment.

I'm planning to have the third chapter take place in a very snowy area to the north, and it takes place before the ponies have grown their winter fur. So they need some outerwear to keep them warm.

I wanted to keep Twilight's outfit as simple as I could get away with and still be practical. In-story, she doesn't want to come across as too stuck-up, despite the fact that she's a princess. That's why she's keeping her head warm with a simple scarf, and wearing a featureless pink snowsuit. Actually, I had Rarity wear the regal stuff; if you look at her cold-weather outfit, it's a stand-out red cloak that wouldn't look out of place on Mrs. Claus!
