Description
Details from artwork for the bookcover of "Dangerous Curves, women of action!" I did for SQP. Some censorship added for this version. Pencil and paper, then painted in photoshop. Took 3 fairly intense weeks to do.Related content

Grazie! Based all three on my best friend who, not only pulls great faces, but really looks quite intimidating when wielding weapons!

That was kind of the clients brief - some sort of pinup charlies angels thing. Must have been successful then!

Cheers! The faces were the most fun part to paint - I enjoyed making the characters expressions distinctly their own.

You have an excellent balance of realism and stylization, in both proportions and colouring....
Absolutely fabulous method....

hay man, how many references do u use for their faces, (or is it only imagination) CUZ - they look so good - like real enough to eat, i mean beat,... um, i mean fight !!

Thanks! In this particular case I photographed a friend pulling faces and used her as the basis for all three. None of them really look like her, but I can see her in all of them (if you follow me!).

Thanks! Glad you like it. Remember being quite proud of how it came out at the time, even if I felt there was some things I thought I could improve on. Done a couple of book covers since (yet to be published so I cant post them) that were better technically, but I really was happy with the expressions and attitude in this piece.
