A flying pig in a bee costume - from a sketch done a couple of years ago, (and before I had even heard of 'UP'!) based on a personal joke between my friend and I.Painted in photoshop and printed out as a birthday card (Happy Birthday my friend!)
EDIT: Finally got around to playing around with the print option here in dA and thought I'd try it on this image to see if its a worthwhile endeavour. The prints are a 1 to 1.5 ratio rather than the 1 to 2 ratio of the picture in the gallery.

Just got my print. I got the 12x20 size and it looks great. The colors aren't quite as bright and saturated...the blue sky especially seems much darker, but overall it's still a wonderful piece. Thanks for doing it!

Unfortunately with a system like this one, I dont think there is anyway to order a print proof and check the colours and saturations. Thanks for the feedback, very much appreciated - I may fiddle with the file and make the sky a bit lighter. Hope your kids enjoy!

Yeah, that's actually why I haven't done a print myself.

Drawn before Up, but not drawn before 'The Adventures of Piggly Winks'! Your character reminds me strongly of the protagonist from the Irish Animated Children's Series. Google or Youtube it and see what I mean.

I do tend to use layers, though the number really depends on what I'm working on. Mostly I use them to seperate figures from the background, or objects I may wish to change the colour at some later point, like a shirt etc.

That's too funny. I adore the Muppet Show. Grew up watching it. So much so, that the very first comic I did (a very silly 55+ page fetish comic) was entitled "TICKLING IN SPACE." And I would end each mini episode with the text at the bottom...
"FIND OUT IN THE NEXT THRILLING EPISODE OF TICKLING IN SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE!" In homage to that awesome show.
And I'm not too sure about Miss Piggy disapproving. Pigs are smart. I'm sure she'd appreciate the subtle irony.

Balloons are the new black! I think we can blame pixar with the movie "UP!" - never before has a movie done so much to promote the humble party balloon! And as in your design, red is the colour of choice it seems!

'THE NEW BLACK'. Excellent termenology. I have yet to see "UP!", anything with a crabby-faced old guy is hilarious, + it is ASNER. Quality actor + voice. I have to say, I thought PIGBEE's were in. I don't know why, but PIGBEE's sound just right. 'Oinkzzzz Oinkzzzz'.

I know what you are saying. I luv all my peeps out there but it's a little frustrting when I post a drawing that took me hours to do and I get no reaction from them but then I draw some over inflated babe sketch take took 5 minutes and I get tenfold the hits....
