Description Steve the Gull quickly worked out the best way to catch fish was to train a human to do it for him….

Pencil sketch for fun. Needs a background, and possibly some fish. Steve is keen on fish.

Well done. I like your lighting, and Steve the gull really makes the picture. Is this drawn from life? The dynamic positions of her hands strike me as something difficult to conjure out of spontaneity.

Loopydave In reply to Seraphaguin [2013-08-31 14:04:07 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Not drawn from life unfortunately ... Almost always impossible to get a sea gull to stand still long enough anyway

Seraphaguin In reply to Loopydave [2013-09-01 21:40:13 +0000 UTC]

You should see the seagulls around here- they're certainly bold enough to stand and stare at you for an hour or so, and about 2 and a half feet tall.

Lovely pencil work, Dave; right down to the wrinkled skin on her foot and that beautifully knapped leaf point speartip. Steve is also well drawn.

Does it really need a background??? It might distract from the more, uh, important parts of this drawing. HAHA! Fantastic work, very inspiring pencil work. Seriously.

Loopydave In reply to jobajec [2013-01-22 11:08:56 +0000 UTC]

You are not the first to say so... think I'll leave the background out of this one and listen to your advice!
Cheers!

Wow! The motion, lines, and composition are just amazing. Left leg looks a touch rubber (maybe a hint too much swell in the calf?) but the overall piece is excellent, and the details are great, especially where her feet disappear into the water.
