Description

A sneak peek how the fourteenth game project of Yours truly looks behind the scenes at the moment.

Castlevania influence is strong. This particular game idea had its origins in an older project which was going to be a simple fangame of the series without any originality, Castlevania: The Forgotten Chapter (R.I.P.). While the base features have been copied (more or less faithfully) from the source material, there are some cool additions here, like four-directional attacks, a high jump and a very delicately crafted infinite wall jump, giving the player a lot more varied gameplay than in its cancelled cousin. As a result Lord Berlin started to resemble a ninja more than the usual 8-bit heroes, heh... Not quite Ninja Gaiden, but getting close.

While every enemy type from Shinigal project is already decided to make appearances suited for side-scrolling platform style, there will be some new monsters and especially bosses to deal with, naturally. Here we see the usual cannon fodder, Zombie, appearing from the ground infinitely to keep the players on their toes. While the graphic violence in Shinigal was nearly nonexistent, here we see decent amounts of gore and some dismemberment fit for the new style. Not that impressive in eight bits, but at least red pixels flying will give some players the satisfaction they may seek here.

This game is on the later alpha stages and somewhat playable, but while the project Shinigal moves on, this will follow closely in its wake.
