Description     Genesis got past the incident with the pink wyngling okay enough. After a few weeks with doubled chores, Alma finally decided Genesis was not the culprit of the runeboo-napping, though Kalypso continued to insist that Genesis was the lead suspect.

She didn't like runeboos, though. Only a few wynglings at the Nook had them, but she was careful to steer clear of them. Coatala, too - she may not have had a run-in to do with them, but she did know that they were another popular item from Kalypso.

That was why she found it very unusual that she found herself coloring next to a wyngling who had a runeboo. However, whenever she wasn't telling her own stories, she liked to listen to the ones others told. Because she often... embellished... her own stories, she learned to realize when others were doing it too, and this wyngling.... The stories she told were ridiculous. And perhaps Genesis could stand the runeboo's presence because it was pawing at a bit of string on the floor, looking the saddest she'd ever seen an animal look.

Genesis was getting lost in her coloring, making something to go along with her next big story about getting lost in the woods and finding a feral wyngro or a spite chasing her, when she heard the words fall from the wyngling's mouth.

"And then the pink wyngling said she didn't care about my runeboo! How selfish is that? She obviously thought her runeboo was just too high and mighty to have a playdate with mine. She wasn't even very pretty, you know! She had ugly teeth sticking out of her mouth and the weirdest tail I've ever seen!"

Shock resonated through Genesis. The gray wyngling was describing the pink wyngling to a T! She lived here, at the Nook? Surely Genesis would've seen her by now if that was true. She had assumed the pink wyngling was some spoiled, homeschooled brat.

She waited until the gray wyngling was on her own, the gaggle of others growing disinterested in her gossip. Then she stood up and sidled closer to the wyngling, who was now cooing over the runeboo, who still looked miserable. Genesis cleared her throat to get her attention when it seemed she didn't notice her, but the gray wyngling just responded coldly, "What do you want?"

Genesis was, once again, shocked. It took her a moment to gather her wits again, not expecting the gray wyngling to respond to her like that. "Uh - well - my name is Genesis, I - I've seen the wyngling you're talking about. Not here, but before. She, um - I think she framed me for something I didn't do and I got into some trouble for it."

The gray wyngling suddenly perked up, turning around to face Genesis with a gasp. She had abruptly changed from uncaring to sympathetic, once again throwing Genesis off. "What? You've seen her? That sounds awful, dear! My name is Effloresce, but my friends call me Effie! And you're my friend, aren't you?"

"I... guess?" Genesis raised an eyebrow, taking a step back when Effie leaned in a little too close.

"That's great! I love making new friends! What's your name?" She scooted closer to Genesis, not seeming to notice or care that Genesis had moved away from her.

"It's Genesis," Genesis repeated, frowning. Her mind was churning, and she was less sure that she wanted to talk to this wyngling now, but she continued anyway. "I said that earlier."

"Oh, I'm sorry, I was just paying attention to Roo!" Effie hummed, smiling ear-to-ear as she scooped up her runeboo to give them a big hug. They sighed in her grasp, squirming gently out of it a moment later and slinking off behind her. She didn't seem to notice or care, continuing, "Now, what were you saying about that horrible wyngling?"

"I think the runeboo you saw her with was stolen," Genesis said, getting right to the point. "And I think she framed me for stealing it."

"What?! That's awful!" Effie gasped, putting her paws on her cheeks in an exaggerated expression, apparently appalled. "Runeboos are living creatures and should be treated kindly! To steal one from its rightful owner is just wrong, separating it from its master like that!" There was a pause in which Effie appeared to be thinking and Genesis didn't know what to say. Slowly, a smile appeared on Effie's face. "Wait a moment, I've got an idea. What do you say we get back at her for stealing that runeboo? You said she framed you? We can use that against her! I know just where to find her and everything. We can formulate a plan together, and that runeboo will get back to its rightful owner, and you'll have your honor back!"

"I mean, I'm not being punished for it anymore, so -"

"You were punished for something she did?!" Effie cut across her, once again making an exaggeration of expression with her features. "That's so awful! She really does deserve to get justice brought to her! Come on now, let's go somewhere more private where we can talk about what to do about this!"

Effie ran into the hallway, and her runeboo gave Genesis a long look before trailing after her.

Genesis felt like she had no choice but to follow.
