The world inside of Maharu's home always felt bleak and dreary. It was like they didn't know what color was, with all of the grays and neutral tones that they used. From the decor to the paint on the walls, everything was cold and impersonal.

The Setas, too, were rather colorless. Maharu loathed how his skin only showed shades of gray. Even his eyes were dark and colorless, and the clothes he was given were much the same. His father shared his medium gray coloration, and his mother was a dark gray-brown, each with eyes that were as cold and impersonal as the hues they wore. The Seta house was lifeless to Maharu.

One of the rare times he saw color in that house was when he was working on corrections to papers, whether it was homework or paperwork for his parents. Paperwork made him more useful, gave them more of a reason to keep him around. He didn't mind it or anything. It was just... boring. Dull. Much like the rest of his life.

The only thing he ever really looked forward to was going to the Nook. Unlike his home, it was filled with a rainbow of colors and sounds. He saw that wyngling, sometimes, that was so interesting to him, but he had never had the chance to approach him yet. He wasn't sure how, if he was honest, especially since Maharu's tutors had afforded him a more advanced placement while the other wyngling seemed to be fairly uninterested in school.

When he sat down to check over the Seta's papers for the day, he would spend his time mechanically checking each one, while his mind was focused on something else. What could he do to befriend someone...?
