Taken on a shoot yesterday on my fire escape. Thus the play on words in the title.This is the lovely and amazing Nadja....and her fabulous dress.
I was going for a very graphic fashion edge to our shoot. She made it easy.

Very dynamic.
I'm not so sure the distortion of her torso is all that effective, but it's not too much of an issue.

Spectacular composition. When I saw the thumbnail I almost thought you'd made the background b/w and only had her in colour. That dress just really snaps you to attention and demands your eye.

The lighting is so severe, yet her cheekbones and and form seem to bend it to her will; it lends quite well to the imposing feeling she seems to be expressing. I have to partly disagree, though, regarding the effectiveness of the background. The light has washed out almost all the exposed, visibly defined metal that surrounds her that is cut at perpendicular angles; the only saving grace in that aspect is the strip of white light on the left rail in the foreground; even so, while I can mentally appreciate this aspect of the composition, it visually leaves something to be desired for me. Overall, quite stunning.

Actually I can't decide whether I love or hate this photograph - I guess by default its a great photograph since it evokes that type of response. The background (that everybody else loves) is what gives me pause.
