Yay for surrealism.I had a shoot scheduled with Michele the other day, and I was walking by her work coincidentally and saw this stop sign knocked down. Immediately, I wanted to do something with her long legs draped upon the sign. She is my hair dresser and I was having my hair cut before the shoot that very day. We decided to reschedule the rest of the shoot because of the humidity, but I wanted to get this shot. We shot for about 20 minutes, then she called me 15 minutes later...she just happens to also live upstairs and work right next to the sign...they had fixed the sign 15 minutes after the shoot. Maybe it was because a tall blond was laying all over it and and literally stopping the fuck out of traffic with a petite brunette snapping photos of the whole mess.
God, I love photography.

This reminds me of the movie The Hudsucker Proxy with Tim Robbins. He jumps off of an incredibly high buildning only to be stopped by the stopping of the clock which controls all. At the moment he stops, 5 feet from the ground, he is incredibly tense. This picture looks like she was falling and expected to hit the ground, but was saved. Amazing. I am also curious, as In-Apt posted, how her hand is able to be so relaxed. What is holding her up really. trust me, the answer won't ruin my suspension of disbelief.

Not to repeat all the above comments, but yes, great contrast with the B&W and the red sign (sure you already know that by now) and the pose, etc. Love the shoes and dress, and the muscle tone created by her pointed toe. (There's some very erotic to me about a womans instep
I'm assuming you removed the post from the area between model and sign in Photoshop or something? Not being critical, I can just see a bit of " blurryness" there, that PS tends to create unless you use the rubber stamp tool. And I only looked because one comment I read said somethig about that, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed or thought to look there.
Either way, it's a great shot and I love it!

I need an explanation on her stand to grasp the positioning... She can't float, right?
From the neck and face I see that she's using muscles, but the arm just seems too loose to be holding her. Perhaps something hidden in the dress, but still I think it's too much weight for the seemingly rested arm...
Anyway... I love it! She really is amazing, and so is the photographer.

i just added this to my favorites list; i think it's amazing. i love the way the stopsign pops out in full color, and simpleness and graphic-ness of the photo as a whole. i kind of wish she wasn't dressed up so much and posed so strangely, though... it makes it a little bit too fashion-y for me. it's the bright red stopsign that i like best.

Really nice! There's something very comic about it, in a positive way! Just out of curiosity, is the original photo in black & white or in colour? The sign feels smoother than the rest of the picture. Might it bee so that you've removed the pole witch the sing was sitting at? Just guessing, but it seems that there has been some manipulation made in the area between the sign and her left leg. Hope you can decode my not too good English.
