Description
There is a Chinese proverb that goes "fall down seven times, get up eight"...I feel like I am on my 12th, but this time I am trying to stop mid-fall, before landing on my ass again.Self-portrait for the week. Slight grain intentional.

I like the way it pushes a sort of hiding, run-away-from-the-world feeling.

Wow, this is great! The hands and feet fill the frame nicely.
I love the way all aspects of identity are hidden, even though the person is stripped bare.
Great concept, nicely done!!

reminds me of the work of photographer Arno Raphael Minkinnen - he's a finnish photographer who strictly takes self-portraits in various contortions that relate him to nature (such as a piece of driftwood) - sorry I'm blabbing - cool photo

What an eye-popper! The phenomenal visual impact of it can't be overstated.
Strangely, the title is almost a complete disconnect for me. If she's falling backward, she doesn't seem to be doing anything to stop it. And if she's falling forward (i.e., we're under the floor), nothing about the lighting suggests this perspective.
But the image itself, regardless of its meaning, is totally successful for me. The correspondending angles of hands and feet makes for a great unity of whole - we immediately have to "sort them out," which is inevitably going to involve/compel your viewer.
Add to this the "second layer" of this effect, that that wrists and ankles are crossed in a parallel way too, but more "off screen," and the mixed-up effect is even stronger.
I saw a "more contrast" comment above, but I don't buy it. Rather, the toning is perfectly thorough - no detail is lost - and the overall contrast of the image is undeniably arresting.
This is the kind of image that stops traffic, and has a deeper appeal too. It's one of those images any of us could have made, but you're the one who chose to. Sometimes those seem to me the most genius of all.

Yes yes...I really like the composition here....
could use a little more contrast.....background could be darker and the lighting is a little flat...but the pose is great
rock on

Beautiful shot, but without sounding too prurient I think that the shot as a whole would work better if the shot had included the bottom as well. I understand why you may have cropped it but the framing of the whole body would have added, for me at least, the feeling that you had fallen completely and stopped before landing on your ass (as you say). Verses the feeling that I get in the shot as-is that you are falling but can't stop it.
Still beautiful though.
