Chapter 1
I sat watching the early morning news with my dad when a news lady came on talking about some town near us that is being attacked be this mosquito like bugs. We turned it up so we wouldn’t miss anything when it was interrupted by a message from the president. We were very quiet when the president finally came on; he looked flustered or maybe even scared.
“I’m sure you are all wondering what this is about, well there is this genetically enhanced bug a robot bug if you will well, it has gotten out of our lab and is a potential threat to anyone in the James town area. Anyone in the James town area” he repeated” should evacuate.
The screen faded to black and big white words saying evacuate now came on the screen.
I and my dad looked at each other when finely I said “let’s go get mom and ash”
I ran to the kitchen to get my jacket, then we both ran out of the house to our big blue truck it wasn’t the biggest truck since it was older than all the other beasts on the road but still reliable enough to race out of the city
We started driving and dark rain clouds trailed behind, thundering ominously.
As we entered town it started to rain, all the buildings where cold and abandoned leaving an eerie chill behind.
My dad let the truck stall outside the police department as I ran in to get my sister and mother. The place was crowded everyone yelling and shoving, trying to figure out this mess. I turned around to watch two men on the brink of a fist fight when I walked right into ash.
“Are you ok?” she asked in a worried tone, as she grabbed my shoulders to steady me
“What’s going on here, where’s mom?”
“I don’t know I assumed she was with you.”
“No, I have no idea where mom is.”
