While Hoopoe offered to look after Ashenstar, his curiosity about the Hraun Chain creatures grew. And given the injury on the zebramount hybrid, and the way Nanna talked about them, it was clear these creatures were ill-seen by the vikings, with reason of course! But he couldn't help feeling compelled to make sure the creatures were treated with compassion if it was possible. So, without a word, he sent his oldest trusted partner Kite to follow Birgir and Aurelia. He could know the two of them wouldn't be objective with what might have happened to their loved ones. He didn't wish any ill on Eydis or Aurelia's dragons, he just wanted to help the creatures too.
