Hey, LoversboxLain! I promised you a few critiques in exchange for what you did for me, so here's the first one.

First off, I really like the coloring on this. It has an overall tan appearance to it which gives it the appearance of the art you would find in a children's book like The Velveteen Rabbit, or one of the other shading/watercolor variety of books. I especially like the costume and how it blends into this form of coloring. It has kind of a gothic look to it. The details on the character's skirt and chest straps are just beautiful. Also, giving her the light pink hair? That's gorgeous. Pink is a great hair color.

The way the character is shaded and proportioned give this character a sort of innocent look, sort of like a cartoon that's meant for older kids while maintaining an innocent air to the whole thing. Forgive me for sounding lustful, but the cartoonish way this woman is a little bit plump combined with a sort of handsomeness you might see in a vintage comic book from the sixties and seventies. Yes, the overall intention is cuteness, and you know what? That's perfectly fine. It's simple, sweet and effective.

If I had to be critical on anything, it would be that this is also the image's greatest weakness. Maybe I'll sound a little bit pretentious saying this, but I tend to go for either a seinen/shonen style of drawing or styles of art which are more postmodern blended with a hint of Renaissance. This one is almost semi-moe, which I tend to avoid. Even so, it's as much a plus as it is a minus, and it leans more toward plus.
